SharePoint for Housing: Extending the Greentree Housing Solution

Sharepoint 2013In life, it is important to have passion for what we do and, I believe, work with the sectors that we genuinely care about and respect. The Kinetic team have strived to deliver a high calibre solution for Community Housing for these exact reasons.

For the past six years we have been working to develop Greentree for Housing as a leading solution for the Australian housing sector, investing heavily so that we deliver what we believe to be a market leading solution. Based on the number of happy clients with successful solutions, we believe we are adding value to the sector and that is important to us.

Community Housing has a wide remit in the service it delivers, which makes delivering a one-size-fits-all solution impracticable. Whilst our Community Housing solution covers most areas of housing organisational need such as tenancy, assets, CRM, workflow, finance, payroll & HR and so on, no single product can deliver all things to all organisations.

Working closely with other organisations, Kinetic can add greater value to the sector overall, saving both time and money because our strategic partners enable us to deliver a broader platform.

For example, our work with SPM Assets has enabled Kinetic to deliver seamless integration between Greentree and its asset management capability, allowing for better assessment, analysis and long term planning for the management of property and facility assets.

SharePoint is a tool that many of our clients and prospects are talking to us about, with some already having implemented to some extent. But it requires careful business analysis to get the best for the organisation; it can be expensive and it can takes many months to implement.

Experience shows us from industry implementations that many SharePoint projects simply fail to deliver anything useful for various reasons.

Kinetic has worked with definiti on a number of private sector SharePoint projects and want to bring that shared experience to Community Housing to help facilitate better implementations, given that – and I’m sure definiti won’t mind me saying this – it’s very easy to spend a fortune on SharePoint to not get the expected bang for your buck.

A typical implementation typically costs between $90,000 and $120,000 for starters for an organisation.

Therefore to add value to the Community Housing sector, Kinetic and definiti recognise that a more standard out-of-the-box solution will add far more value. In essence, Community Housing organisations will be able to get a suitable solution delivered at a fraction of the cost and the timeframe required for a custom built solution.

This will mean that from day one you can deliver SharePoint branded for your organisation with suitable functionality for housing starting from mid-2016. Commercially definiti will deal direct with all customers so this is for the benefit of the sector, not Kinetic.

So what functionality will be available from the get go? Here’s the initial list:

  • Workflow with a standard housing framework
  • Housing dashboard
  • The ability to store all Greentree documents automatically in SharePoint’s document libraries
  • Report dissemination
  • Support discussion board
  • The ability to carry out simple task for administration and reception users to carry out tenant services such as provide real-time rent balance checking, reprint rent statements, handle branch receipting, simple complaint handling, etc. via direct integration with Greentree.
  • Progress Scorecard
  • Integration with all other housing software (eventually included)
  • Survey storage and capture.

Development is currently under way with this but I am still keen to get feedback either from clients or organisations considering SharePoint for market research and feedback to help the sector.

Please email directly if you are keen to participate with your thoughts on requirements or even be an early participant.

Pricing will be dependent on which category of registration you fall under i.e. tier 1, 2 or 3. Final costs are yet to be determined however it will be approximately a quarter of the price of a normal implementation for SharePoint for Housing. In addition a couple of days to install and tweak will also be required.

definiti will charge maintenance because SharePoint for Housing will be a continuous development product, with future enhancements being included within the maintenance charge. A terrific deal again for the sector.

Of course, for those who wish to extend the standard functionality of SharePoint for Housing with very specific organisational functionality that is not available out-of-the-box, this will be available on scope of the requirements and costed separately.

Brad Woollett, Managing Director of definiti, said:

“It is clear the passion Scott has for the sector when he first approached me to create a solution for the housing sector. … This solution will represent a very cost effective and intelligent way to role SharePoint out across the Community Housing sector and provide a great collaboration platform for the organisation. All at definiti look forward to working with the sector over the coming years.”
