Happy employees means better profits for Australian organisations – Find out how ERP employee development software can help you achieve this
Following on from my article I thought it would be useful to look at one of the individual components of the Greentree HR suite.
The reason I wanted to discuss this module is that, to me, it is one of the most important aspects of the HR department, and indeed the organisation, in order to have happy employees.
It is hugely important for any employee to feel valued and to feel they have a future with your organisation. It is imperative for employees to feel they are being managed and have a planned career progression.
Obviously everyone has different goals and ambitions and it is vital that organisations not only comprehend this but can demonstrate their understanding.
Evidence from HR professionals and academic research clearly shows that happy employees means higher employee retention, better trained employees are able to deliver more professional results and having excellent lines of communicationbenefit both employees and the organisation.
Many employers I discuss employee development with just see it as a cost in terms of training and HR department time.
However they forget that without employee development frequently certain skills are then outsourced – with far greater cost! And what is the cost of employing someone only to have them leave six months later because they’re unhappy?
Don’t kid yourself – the disruption to the organisation, wasted training, readvertising, recruitment consultants, disruption to customers are all areas that have a massive impact on your organisation.
Of course employee development is not just training but can cover a number of areas. The following are my top six:
- Career Planning
- Performance Management
- 360 Degree feedback
- Coaching and Mentoring
- Company Training Needs Analysis
- Individual Employee Development
So how can Greentree ERP software help?
The Greentree Employee Development module frees up the amount of time HR administration devotes to the employee review process, allowing management to focus on employee skills and development to ensure a competitive advantage in the management of human resources. Employee Development centralises staff evaluation information to improve efficiency and access for approved personnel.
So if we consider the benefits this module would bring to the HR department and employee the following are just the highlights:
Automated scheduling – Routine schedules can be established for both individual employees and system wide, to ensure that nobody is overlooked during a review cycle. This includes fully automated employee start-up procedures for requirements such as induction reviews and probation appraisals.
Goal setting – In addition to setting goals at each review for the next time frame, each individual can set master goals to be achieved over a longer period. Of course each review session allows measuring the goals against actual performance.
Configurable assessment criteria – Each organisation is different, that’s why Greentree allows you to configure your own assessment criteria which can be applied to each employee, either directly or tied to the position that they hold within your organisation.
Employee centric – For each employee a complete 360 degree view is available, showing not only current reviews in progress but a full history of all completed reviews.
Reviews and appraisals – The reviews and appraisals process allows users to record the outcomes for each review for an employee and set goals and objectives for the ensuing period. The reviews can be scheduled weekly, monthly, annually or on an ad hoc basis as required.
Manage skills gaps and employee development – Unforeseen shortfalls in staff skills can increase costs to your business. Successful management of employee reviews will alert management to any skills gaps in the organisation and allow for succession planning and employee development to overcome them before they become an issue that affects your bottom line.
Increase staff satisfaction and improve employee retention – The Employee Development module can facilitate increased job satisfaction for staff, with improved management and development of their full potential. This increased satisfaction can directly enhance employee retention rates and increase your organisations’ collective expertise.
Good staff is one of the critical factors of any good business so look after them and they will look after you!
